Public Welcome Free Event Home/Private Garden Tour Nature Walk/Hike Free Public Parking Lots of Physical Activity
On June 10 at 5:00pm we will be hosting a nature walk, followed by a yard tour at the home of one of our members on Portage Point in Escanaba. We'll start with an approximate 1 hour "Blooms and Birds" walk at the Portage Marsh State Wildlife Management area at the end of Portage Point Rd, and check out the spring plants and many birds and other animals that nest in this area. This will be followed by a yard tour just up the road. Our yard tours highlight outdoor spaces into which the homeowners are incorporating native plants, to discuss their successes, “learning opportunities,” and future plans with participants.
We hope that this will be a two-way sharing opportunity; bring your own ideas and experiences to share with the host as you see the work they have done and plans for the future.
Meet at the Portage Marsh WMA parking area at the end of Portage Point Rd., just south of Escanaba off of M-35. We will do the walk there first (about 1 hr.) then move on to the yard tour. This will be an easy walk on a flat path and around the yard . Dress for the weather and potential insects. This event is free and open to all!
